If you are a tennis fan then you will find no surprise in this week’s Sunday Series. Blowing all of the fast-moving categories out of the water, the amount of unique visitors (UVs) to sites in the tennis category increased by 84.7% from May to June.

May is the month when hopeful DIYers and gardeners begin researching, planning, and getting excited for all of their summer projects. This is shown quite clearly with a 3.47% increase in unique visitors to the category and spikes upwards of 100% for a few of the fastest moving home improvement sites.

News and political blogs grew 11% in April with over 14 million Unique Visitors (UVs)–making it the one of the Top 20 fastest growing categories (according to Compete PRO). April’s Top 50 Sites: Yahoo! Steals 2nd Place from Facebook
Yahoo.com replaced Facebook.com as the second most visited website in April, according to Compete’s latest U.S. traffic data. It was a close race, but Yahoo grew less than 1% month-over-month (MOM) to 164.6 million Unique Visitors (UVs) while Facebook’s monthly UVs dropped nearly half a percent to 164.1 million. Google remained king with 171.9 million UVs, a decrease of half a percent MOM.
April Data is LIVE at Compete
April saw the return of baseball season in the United States, propelling MLB.com into the fastest growing sites for the month. Additionally, we may be witnessing the rise of Twitter’s recently acquired Vine as the site surged passed two million unique visitors last month. Rounding out April’s Fast Movers is Boston.com, likely driven by people looking for news about the Boston Marathon bombings.

It’s finally spring time and our data shows just how eager home owners were for the warmer weather. Traffic to the ‘Home Improvement’ Category, which contains 121 related sites, grew 19% month-over-month (MOM) in March with over 16 million Unique Visitors (UVs).
