After a brief hiatus, our Sunday Series is back! Our June data is officially live, and with the change in season comes a change in trends.
One category to skyrocket in popularity this month was health and fitness blogs. As norms transition to skimpier clothing and frequent beach days, it comes as no surprise that this topic would have a major spike. Seriously, the summer bod is real. From May to June the traffic to these sites more than doubled. (It’s worth noting that traffic to these sites tends to increase in November as well, but presumably for different reasons…only 123 days until Thanksgiving!)
Among these sites, this month’s clear champion is Stack.com. This site had a monthly increase in traffic close to 300%, and with articles like High Fructose Corn Syrup vs. Sugar: What’s The Difference? and The 18 Best Core Exercises for Athletes, it clearly suits the needs of a health-focused customer base.
The most interesting component of the Stack.com’s data is where all their visitors are coming from. Most people who view their site come directly from YouTube rather than traditional search engines. In fact, for every one visitor who came from Google, nearly five originated at YouTube. Clearly Stack’s video marketing strategy is on point. And with their inspirational videos and cameos from some of the world’s top athletes, it’s easy to see the appeal.
So what’s the take away? Well, it’s two-fold. First is that you can’t underestimate the value of your media channels, and seconds is that it looks like all your friends are going to be in pretty good shape by the end of this month, so you might want to hit the gym.
