See what helped software sites, job search engines, and news platforms secure spots in our Top 50!
Software Giants Going Strong
Among this month’s Top 50 were Java.com and Adobe.com, ranked at #50 and #16 respectively. Both sites see recent quarterly rise/fall trends, which are likely due to periodic software updates. Adobe’s top subdomains (for the most part) lead interested parties to a download or update for Adobe Reader. In any event, sharp monthly increases and stable yearly increases in Unique Visitor count keep both software sites as top performers!
Always interesting to note are Microsoft and its other sites, Bing.com and Live.com. The original site, search engine, and Windows Outlook springboard consistently take spots in the monthly Top 10s — but for January 2014, Live.com moved up to #7 with a 2.87% MoM increase. This could be due to a return to the workplace after holiday festivities. Bing.com stayed strong in 5th place.
Impressive Growth, Indeed
The new year, of course, always sees an insurgence in new promises and resolutions. Getting finances and careers in order are popular resolutions, so seeing job search site Indeed.com in the top 50 makes complete sense! Coming in at #48 with a MoM growth of 22.64%, their increased traffic is likely linked to renewed interest in the job hunt.
Good News for NBC
NBCNews.com came in at #31 with a strong YoY increase of 36.54%. This is likely due to increased Olympics hype, with the news provider being the primary broadcaster for the international sports event. What’s interesting is their UV count over the past two years — fairly stagnant in early 2012, visitor count sharply increased in the summer (just in time for London 2012, it seems) and has stayed strong ever since, with pleasant increases for January 2014.
The list of top 50 sites is pulled from Compete PRO and is based on the Internet behavior of more than 2 million Americans.
