This week, Compete compiled the list of ten fastest growing dating sites during the month of February. With Valentine’s Day smack dab in the middle of the month, I expected the category to increased traffic. It appears that the love-holiday kept people away; the category had 12.5% less Unique Visitors than in January. Plenty of people were still looking for love: nearly 44 million U.S. adults browsed dating sites in February. Is casual dating on the rise? Casualcub.com and justhookup.com both made the top list. Looking for a more serious connection? Christiandatingforfree.com finished off the list with just shy of 100,000 UV’s.
The gender break down of the sites is interesting. I compared the largest sample site on the list, pop6.com, with justhookup.com (also the second most UVs) and christiandatingforfree.com. Significantly more men visited the first two, while the Christian specific site was more even with 51% women. Men–if you’re just looking for a hookup–I’m sorry but the but the odds are not in your favor.
