Let me just start out this week’s Compete Pulse with a huge congratulations to Mike Ricciardelli, who won our ‘Compete Success Stories’ contest earlier this week with his fabulous entry of how he was able to use Compete PRO to beat out the competition. All of the entries were truly incredible for us to read and we couldn’t be happier with the outpouring of positivity from clients!

If you use social media, do you prefer the ads served to you on social networks to be tailored to your lifestyle? According to a new survey from Ipsos, most people do! In fact, this number is around 56%. This trend is contradictive to the idea that people are generally uncomfortable with personal data being collected and used for advertising.  Check out the MarketingProfs write up of the data for the full story!

According to Direct Marketing News, direct marketing is “a database-driven, interactive process of directly communicating with targeted customers or prospects using any medium to obtain a measurable response or transaction via one or multiple channels.” So, with that being said, are you doing direct marketing? If you haven’t heard of Fab.com, you will soon. The hand-selected design site is 9 million users strong and has just raised even more money to quicken its ascent into the pantheon of top ecommerce sites. Speaking of inspiring stories, how about that Nick D’Aloisio? He’s the 17-year-old who launched Summly recently, an app that summarizes news into a few short lines. He also happens to be the youngest person to receive a round of venture capital in technology. The magic behind the app is that the summarization is automated, not inputted. Read more on The Verge.
