What’s In A Name: Are We Really Naming Our Kids After Celebs?

Yesterday, the U.S. Social Security Administration released the most popular baby names for 2011, and today, everyone is buzzing about the relation of said baby names to today’s celebrities.

Female Names

  6. Emily
  7. Abigail
  8. Madison

  10. Chloe
Male Names

  1. Jacob
  2. Mason
  3. William
  4. Jayden

  10. Daniel

The name “Sophia” was the most popular name for a girl, and “Jacob” was the most popular boy’s name. But what influence do Sofia Vergara and Jacob Black really have over new parents when it comes to naming their kids?

I did a keyword search for “baby names” in Compete PRO to see which sites expectant parents were checking for name inspiration.

Daily Keyword Destinations for Baby Names

With the exception of a few ever-present search and social sites, all of the other websites on the keyword destinations list are baby-related sites. However, looking at the incoming and outgoing sites for the top two baby name websites, babynames.com and parentsconnect.com, you will notice many entertainment/television related websites on the list.
