Great news: according to a new Mayan calendar discovery it appears the the world will not in fact end in December 2012. Experts say these new calculations suggest that the world won’t end for another 6,000 years. Well that’s a relief. But were any of you actually worried?
I scoured through our data to see if I could find any “Doomsday 2012” related site that had a substantial amount of visitors – I wanted to see how many people actually believed that the world was in fact going to end this year – but I couldn’t find a single one with significant traffic.
However, according to National Geographic’s new show “Doomsday Preppers” there are at least a few people who do believe that the world in going to end. Each episode, the show highlights several families and their preparations for the end of the world. We get to see the shelters that they have built, the food supplies that they have stocked up and in some cases, the weapons they have gathered to protect their fort.
Looking at the Daily Search Referrals to the National Geographic site, the phrase “doomsday preppers” is actually the forth most popular search referral to the site, driving .90% of all search referral traffic.
