BOSTON, MA–(Marketwire – January 5, 2011) – Compete, a Kantar Media company, today released its ranking of the top 50 web sites for November 2010. As expected, retail-related sites saw the greatest gains led by price comparison site Shoplocal.com (up 89.70 percent), Toysrus.com (up 75.47 percent) and Bestbuy.com (up 73.03 percent). Amazon.com (up 15.03 percent) capitalized on the trend as well, leapfrogging Wikipedia.org to claim the number five spot for November.
Other notable data points from the November data include:
- Facebook.com continued its gain on Yahoo.com even though its number of UVs declined slightly in November. It was down 0.66 percent, but Yahoo.com was down more than twice as much at 1.53 percent. Now only 1,798,435 UVs separates the two.
- Many of the non retail-related sites in the top 50 saw modest declines in traffic, a drop that’s likely related to consumer preoccupation with shopping and, therefore may not continue beyond December.
- The sliders kept on sliding. Myspace.com (down 10.64 percent), Craigslist.com (down 5.16 percent) and Mapquest.com (down 13.73 percent) were all down again in November.
