Online Football Power Rankings (10/9 – 10/10)

football

The weekend is almost here and everyone is ready for some football, but first, let’s take a look back at the Online Football Power Rankings from last week.  Each week we look at Saturday’s Daily Reach for sites in the College Sports Team Sites category and Sunday’s Daily Reach for sites in the NFL Team Sites category.  Daily Reach is defined by how many people visit a specific site as a percentage of all daily U.S. Internet users.

The “old ball coach” Steve Spurrier and his South Carolina Gamecocks made headlines last week knocking off top ranked Alabama in a convincing win – the first ever win in school history for the Gamecocks over a #1 ranked team.  Not only did South Carolina knock off a #1 nationally ranked team, they also knocked off the #1 ranked team in last Saturday’s Compete NCAA Online Power Rankings.  The Oregon Ducks continued their West Coast dominance last week with a big win over Washington State, even after losing starting QB Darron Thomas to injury.  Oregon also made a huge jump in the Online Power Ranking this week, up 8 spots to #4.  This week’s games will not disappoint:  #1 Ohio State has a tough matchup with Wisconsin, Texas travels to Nebraska, and Arkansas travels to Auburn for a big SEC West showdown.

Week 5 of the NFL season was an exciting weekend of football with some great matchups.  The Dallas Cowboys continued their dominance in the NFL Online Power Rankings on Sunday.  However, they also continued their losing ways after falling to the Tennessee Titans at home.  The Packers climbed up to the #4 spot last Sunday, a day that saw them lose to the Redskins.  Perhaps Packers fans were rushing online following the conclusion of the game to get an injury update on QB Aaron Rodgers following his late game concussion.

This weekend looks to provide another great Sunday filled with football.  The battle of the 1-3 teams heats up in Minnesota as the Cowboys play the Vikings to see which team goes to 2-3 and which team falls to 1-4.  The Baltimore Ravens head north to take on the New England Patriots and all eyes will be focused on the Patriots offense to see how the trade of WR Randy Moss affects how well they move the ball through the air.  Let us know who you are rooting for this weekend and check back next week to see what team made some noise in the Power Rankings.
