If you’re like me, you’re on e-mail overload. You might feel like Old McDonald, except replace farm for promotional email. Here a promo, there a promo, everywhere a promo promo. When I wake up in the morning I’ve got an e-mail from Groupon, BuyWithMe, Living Social, City Deals, and the list goes on and on and on.
While popularity for the discount, coupon, and social shopping websites is growing, when will consumers reach social shopping saturation? Groupon.com entered the social shopping scene a couple of years ago and experienced some significant growth. They went from 4,660 Unique Visitors in March 2009 to over a million Unique Visitors in October 2009 and they’ve been on the rise since.

Groupon made it onto Compete’s Fast Movers list for July 2010 as one of the fastest growing domains and I don’t think they’ll be off the list any time soon. Last week Groupon had a “get $50 at Gap for $25″³ offer that sold over 445,000 vouchers in a day. That’s a lot of monochromatic t-shirts to be sold!
While Groupon is dominating the social shopping scene, there’s a great new way to put your inbox on an e-mail diet: urbanspoils.com. Urban Spoils aggregates deals from 100+ social buying websites such as Groupon, Gilt, LivingSocial, BuyWithMe, Ideeli, RueLaLa, Tippr, Bloomspot. Urban Spoils is the new kid on the block, but I think we can expect to see big things from this new website. They’ve gone from zero to 15K views since May.

I think as Urban Spoils matures as a website we can expect to see some major growth due to deal-loving shoppers (like myself). After all, Groupon wasn’t built in a day!
