The idea of a “true conversion rate” is really key especially when you are a Cross-Channel retailer. It allows you to exclude the negative conversion rate effects of campaigns that drive newsletter sign-ups such as competitions or even PR that you may or may not be aware of. A popular news story for a large company could swamp their site with visitors killing their conversion rate.

Distributed shopping does sound exciting. You could learn a lot from the way the Obama campaign was set up and worked. The key issue here, I believe, is finding people at these customer ‘gathering grounds’ who will advocate for you. If insiders are pushing your product to the rest of the group, it becomes an easy sell.
