Might be a bit more interesting if you include the growth in the overall search market, so we know how much Google is taking from others, and how much is pure new business.

This data would be more meaningful if you factored in how many people actually visit the search properties and how many referrals they provide to other sites through search.

Counting queries is pretty much a waste of time because you’re not filtering out the rank-checking that people do every day, not to mention all the informational queries people run on Google for calculations, local business directions, phone numbers, and more.
