Some time back, Yahoo was going into multimedia tieups for exclusive online video content. Still think that's the way of the future. Posting user generated video clips and clips from TV and music shows and all is fine, but a huge and untapped market is waiting - Internet channels. Considering people are spending more time on the net than on watching television, you'd think that producers would start providing exclusive content for online streaming. This idea never really took off, considering the potential it has.

It will be interesting to see what develops in the online video market. An interesting online video site that wasn't mentioned is dailymotion(.com). Just last Monday, they announced that they are offering HD video. This is a huge step and one that might rocket them to the top 2 of online video sites if Youtube and some of the others don't make the move to HD soon.

Here is an interesting piece of news from CNet from back in November. (http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9817732-7.html) I'm not quite sure Youtube is going to make that move any time soon. Even if "high quality" is coming to Youtube soon, that does not mean HD quality. And as you said, Yahoo is already making some improvements. Although it is probably too early to see results from Dailymotion's switch to HD, they might be something to look at in the next online video comparison.

Also, can you explain the drop in heavy.com and maniatv.com had back in June 07? They seemed to have dropped to levels equal with the other, more minor, competitors.
