Rich VB has a point. The goal was to sell ipods. Conversion metrics would really give a great idea of how many searchers got shunted to the ipods and how many stayed on message. Regardless, it's still a brilliant idea for an ad, since music is 'the' core selling point of all the products.

It seems obvious from these searches that the iTunes and the bands would benefit greatly from displaying the artist and song name on the ads, perhaps even use a custom URL:

www.apple.com/artist-name

Interesting. Also interesting to know would be how many downloads and/or purchases it led to of the song. Call it a case study in the new media vs. old media marketing discussion...with some conversion metrics to boot. Any idea?
