The situation wasn't handled well at all. No warning, no time to adapt to the change in policy, no opportunity to reason with them, not even a threatening email saying "write PG stories or else." They just locked accounts, banned others, deleted everything, and then blocked titles and usernames without explanation. The site is well made but managed very poorly.
