The Rivalry

Written by Ryan Carrigg (contact - e-mail) -- September 29th, 2006 | Recommend This

Let me preface this post by saying that this is one of the most painful things I have ever had to do. On July 25 I proclaimed that the Boston Red Sox would defeat the New York Mets in this year’s World Series. Well, two months later it is safe to say I was wrong. As of August 5, 2006 both the Red Sox and the Yankees sat atop the American League East with 65 wins. Since then the two teams have gone in polar opposite directions with my team of allegiance unfortunately choosing south. The chart below contrasts the winning percentages of these two clubs and also highlights the plummeting site traffic at the Red Sox official page. Although my predictions for this year’s Red Sox squad may have been off, my theory from the July post stays true; site traffic mirrors team performance.

All winning percentages are indexed to .500 on August 5
