Have you ever wanted to track the movements of your favorite celebrity the same way that scientists track endangered species in the wild? Thanks to Gawker Stalker at Gawker.com, you can finally have your wish. The site allows users to post details of run-ins they may have had with celebs in Manahattan, including a map of their precise location at the time of the sighting.
Some obvious privacy issues arise as celebs who are just grabbing a cup of Starbucks can conceivably be tracked in realtime allowing paparazzi or even real life stalkers to high tail it to the scene. Tons of articles, a feature story on CNN, and viral internet activity drove traffic to Gawker to the tune of 122,000 users in Week 11. This number is sure to increase as the site is still in its beginning stages.
